Ribcage Pain
How this region works: Your ribs attach to the spine in the back and the sternum in the front, creating a flexible cage that moves with every breath. When one rib or a section stiffens or shifts, the opposite side often compensates—leading to sharp, pinchy pain with breathing, twisting, or lifting.
Common symptoms we help: Sharp pain with a deep breath, coughing/sneezing, side-bending or rotating; a tender “hot spot” along one rib; achy mid-back after sitting; or a lingering post-workout stitch.
Our approach
- Chiropractic Adjustments: Gentle thoracic and rib head adjustments (costovertebral/costotransverse joints) to restore motion and relieve local irritation.
- Physiotherapy: Rib mobilizations, “rib springing,” postural resets, and breathing mechanics drills to coordinate the rib-spine-sternum motion.
- Targeted Exercises: 360° breathing practice, foam-roller thoracic mobility, serratus anterior activation (wall slides, punches), and mid-back endurance work.
- Laser Therapy: Low-level laser for intercostal strains and costochondral irritation to support calm and recovery.
- Muscle Work: Myofascial release for intercostals, serratus anterior/posterior, pec minor/major, scalenes, and thoracic paraspinals to reduce pull on the irritated rib.
Why it works: Restore rib motion, align the thoracic spine, then reinforce with breathing and postural control so each breath moves comfortably again.
What to expect: A focused exam, specific adjustments, and a short home sequence (breathing + mobility) that typically feels better right away and improves over a few days.
